Pex is a material that is formed by cross linking the molecules of polyethylene which is eminent polymer. The strength of the polyethylene is enhanced by cross linking its molecules and the resultant product is tougher than the source material. So, this material can be used to build flexible pipes that can survive in high temperatures and prevent corrosion from many chemicals.
PEX pipe was first introduced in Europe in 1960’s and later on it came into practice in United States around 1980. This pipe has made its place in variety of applications by replacing metal and other rigid traditional pipes. It is specially used in the radiant heating systems that are installed in the walkways and heated drive ways. PEX tubing has the ability to withstand with changing temperatures and makes itself capable to fit in various applications. PEX pipe can be used ideally in the cold as well as in the hot water supply system.

The PEX tubing are available in variety of sizes including 3/8, 1/2, 3/4, 5/8, and in 1 inch. These pipes are available in common standard colors such as black, white, blue and red. The red and blue color specify hot and cold water supply respectively. These pipes can be pigmented to yield different colors.
